Preparing Your Heart for Bible Study

Zoom Bible Study Expectations

Our Wednesday Bible Study is designed to be an active learning community where we study God’s Word together. We believe spiritual growth happens not only by listening, but also through observing Scripture, asking questions, discussing ideas, reflecting on our lives, encouraging one another, and praying together.

For that reason, we ask every participant to prepare intentionally before joining.

1. Arrive on Time

Please join the Zoom meeting by 7:30 PM.

Beginning together allows everyone to participate in the opening prayer, worship, and introduction to the lesson. Arriving late often means missing important context and can interrupt the discussion for others.

Just as we would arrive on time for an in-person Bible study, we encourage everyone to do the same online.

2. Keep Your Camera On

Please participate with your camera on whenever possible.

Seeing one another helps build relationships, encourages participation, and reminds us that we are learning together as a church family rather than listening to an online presentation.

There may occasionally be unavoidable circumstances, but the normal expectation is that we learn face-to-face.

3. Prepare a Dedicated Study Space

Choose a quiet place where you can give your full attention to God’s Word.

If possible, sit at a desk or table with

• your Bible,

• notebook,

• pen,

• and any study materials nearby.

Avoid joining while lying in bed or from environments where constant distractions make meaningful participation difficult.

Just as we prepare a place for work or school, we also prepare a place to meet with God through His Word.

4. Be Fully Present

Bible study is not designed to be background audio while driving, shopping, cooking, cleaning, exercising, or doing other work.

Our discussions build on one another, and every participant contributes to the learning of the group.

If your schedule does not allow you to participate fully on a particular evening, it is perfectly acceptable to skip that week and join us again when you are able to engage wholeheartedly.

We would rather have someone fully present for seven weeks than physically connected but mentally absent for eleven.

5. Come Prepared

Whenever possible,

• read the assigned passage before class,

• pray for understanding,

• think about any questions you may have.

You do not need to know all the answers.

Simply come ready to learn.

6. Participate in the Discussion

Everyone is encouraged to participate.

Some people naturally speak more than others, but every question, observation, testimony, and thoughtful response can help someone else understand God’s Word more clearly.

Participation is not about having the “right” answer.

It is about learning together.

7. Listen with Humility

We come together under the authority of Scripture.

Listen carefully to others.

Respect different levels of biblical knowledge.

Be willing to learn, ask questions, and allow God’s Word—not personal preferences—to shape your thinking.

8. Encourage One Another

One of the blessings of studying together is encouraging fellow believers.

Celebrate growth.

Pray for one another.

Share how God is working in your life.

Our goal is not merely to finish a lesson but to build up the Body of Christ.

9. Protect Our Fellowship

Our discussions sometimes include personal testimonies, struggles, and prayer requests.

Please treat these conversations with respect and confidentiality.

A safe environment encourages honest spiritual growth.

10. Come Expecting God to Work

Every class is an opportunity to hear God’s voice through Scripture.

Pray before joining.

Ask God to teach you.

Be willing to obey what He reveals.

Bible study is not simply acquiring information—it is meeting with God through His Word.

A Personal Invitation

If you are new to serious Bible study, don’t be intimidated. You do not need to know the Bible well to join us. We simply ask that you come with a teachable heart and a willingness to participate.

If your current season of life makes it difficult to give your full attention—perhaps because of work, family responsibilities, or other commitments—we completely understand. Rather than feeling pressured to “log in just to be present,” consider joining us when you can truly engage. Our desire is not to maximize attendance numbers but to cultivate meaningful discipleship.

We believe that studying God’s Word deserves our best attention because God deserves our best attention.
